Calzada Romana (Benaocaz and Ubrique)
It is possibly one of the routes that does not need to be presented. Firstly, we highlight this amazing well-known trail that mixes nature and culture in equal parts along a nostalgic stone path. It is an itinerary of only 3 kilometers of distance that will allow you to contemplate the Roman city of Ocuri, located in Ubrique, while you are crossing the paths where armies and goods traveled in the past.
From our experience, we highly recommend you wearing the right footwear and clothing. You will surely enjoy it!
Torreón
Can you imagine yourself reaching the highest peak of the Sierra del Pinar? Without any doubt, it is one of the best views in Spain. Nevertheless, you should take into consideration that it is not a suitable route for everybody, but only for people in good physical condition. However, those travelers who dare should know that it is a very attractive route dominated by fauna and, above all, by the beautiful rocky landscapes.
A one-way trip takes 2 hours, that’s why we really recommend that you take everything you need to stay hydrated. To access from Benamahoma, you must take the A-372 via Grazalema. Keep going 5 kilometers and start the route through the path located on the left. You dare?
La Garganta Verde
Now, we present you a route of medium-high difficulty located in the east of the province that is ideal for more experienced hikers. In fact, it is one of the most emblematic places in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. There are countless paths on it, even if this time we want to focus on La Garganta Verde because it is a spectacular 2.5 km canyon that you reach after a truly exciting itinerary.
Along the way, you will be surprised by its movie caves and its huge vertical walls plenty of vegetation and bird species, such as the griffon vulture. It is a 5.5 km long that can be done in more than 3 hours. Do not forget that, to visit this unique destination, you will need an authorization from the Zahara de la Sierra or El Bosque Visitor Center.
Sendero del Cerro del Águila
If you are looking for a low-demand hiking route suitable for all the family members, this last option is possibly, for you and yours, one of the interesting ones. Located in the northwest of Cádiz, Cerro del Águila is a beautiful trail located in the Doñana National Park.
It is an authentic forest of large pines, junipers and mastic that are home of numerous animal species, especially birds, which will accompany you with their music during this beautiful journey of more than 4 km until you discover the fossil dune. You can get to Cerro del Águila from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, taking the secondary road CA-9027 in the direction of La Algaida, until you reach the entrance of the Pinar del Monte Algaida, where this magnificent trail begins.
